Syrian political figure warns of institutional collapse, calls for comprehensive solution

Syrian lawyer and head of the Political Committee of the General Authority of Sweida Movement, Saleh Abdul Hasbani, stated that Syria is going through a multifaceted crisis encompassing political, economic, and social dimensions, pointing to escalating violations and tensions in several regions.

In an interview with our agency, Hasbani explained that “the current situation reflects a state of comprehensive deadlock resulting from the accumulation of crises and the deterioration of state institutions.” He noted that economic conditions are witnessing a clear decline, manifested in falling living standards and rising poverty rates.

He added that judicial institutions are suffering from a disruption in their role, amid complex security conditions that have affected their independence and ability to enforce the law.

On prospects for a political solution, Hasbani stated that “any future settlement requires a comprehensive restructuring of security and judicial institutions to ensure a stable environment,” emphasizing that the continuation of the current situation hinders reaching to sustainable solutions.

He also addressed the issue of national dialogue, stressing that the success of any political track requires a consensual environment and real guarantees, along with oversight mechanisms and broad participation from various parties.

The Syrian lawyer and political committee head concluded by saying that the absence of effective guarantees deepens the political deadlock, noting that any future solutions require fundamental measures to rebuild trust between the state and society.
