Sweida Military Council announces its readiness to join National Guard

The Sweida Military Council announced on Tuesday its readiness to join the National Guard, in response to the call of the "spiritual authority represented by Sheikh Hikmat al-Hijri."

The council's statement read: "In light of the exceptional challenges facing our region, and out of our belief in a common destiny and goal, we welcome the historic announcement issued by the Presidential Spiritual Council. We consider it a wise step that expresses our people's will to persevere and defend their land and dignity."

The statement added that "Sweida has been, throughout its history, a stronghold of steadfastness and a cradle of resistance," affirming the continuation of the battle to defend the land and holy sites and protect civilians. It emphasized that "the sacrifices made by the martyrs will remain a motivation to continue the resistance until its goals are achieved."

The council concluded by announcing its "full commitment to this initiative," considering that "the battle waged by the people of the province is a battle for existence and destiny," and pledging to remain "loyal soldiers for the unity of society and the defense of its rights and land."

It is worth noting that local factions and forces in Sweida announced, on Saturday, the formation of a unified national army under the name "National Guard", which includes thousands of fighters from Sweida. Dozens of local factions signed the new formation, including: the Sons of the Mountain Gathering, the Mountain Brigades, the Counter-Terrorism Forces, the Sheikh of Dignity Forces, the Aliya Forces, the Local Forces, the Tod al-Jabal Forces, the Qaheroun Forces, the Areen al-Jabal Forces, the Fursan Hamza Forces, the Shams al-Janub Forces, the Dhiyab Hamza Forces, the Al-Fahd Forces, the Protectors of the Borders, the Sultan Forces, the Saif al-Haq Forces, the fazza Al-Ghayari, the Fazza Nashama, the Lajat Shield Forces, the Sweida Operations, the Khayal Group, the Thunder Flag - Taara, the Mountain Shield Forces - Zain al-Din, the Batraq Fazza - Mafala, the Khawal al-Jabal, the Druze Protection Units, the Al-Asayel Forces, and the Army of the Unitarians.
