The people of Tabqa city flocked to the tent that was set up in Al-Ittihad Sports Square in the center of the city to participate in the sit-in denouncing the isolation imposed on leader Abdullah Ocalan and demanding his physical freedom, which is scheduled to continue for two days.

The sit-in began with a speech on behalf of the Democratic Civil Administration in the city of Tabqa, delivered by the co-chair of the Executive Council, Mazloum Omar, where he said: “We are sit-in today to demand the physical freedom of leader Abdullah Ocalan, as they practiced various types of psychological and physical torture on the leader and tried in every way to undermine his idea and project, disregarding all international laws and conventions.”

Al-Omar pointed out, "The pressures, torture, and attempts to silence the voice of truth increased our resolve and determination to continue the struggle."

Al-Omar sent a message "to all the world, humanitarian and human rights organizations, and democrats who defend the rights of detainees by supporting the cause of leader Abdullah Ocalan by pressuring the fascist Turkish regime to achieve his physical freedom."

He stressed, "We moved forward in implementing the leader's thought and philosophy and standing and supporting all activities and campaigns demanding his freedom."

During the sit-in event, the Democratic Civil Administration showed short film about the life and career of Leader Abdullah Ocalan.

The event continues its activities, which are scheduled to end tomorrow.

Civil society organizations in Deir ez-Zor also demanded the physical freedom of leader Abdullah Ocalan, and stressed the need for international forces and human rights organizations to intervene to resolve his case, through a statement read in front of the organizations’ building in its countryside.
