Shelling in Aleppo, Latakia leaves casualties ahead of Astana talks
Two towns and a village in the western countryside of Aleppo were subjected to drone strikes, injuring three people, while two members of the Damascus government forces were killed in artillery shelling that targeted their positions in the Latakia countryside. This occurred hours before the "Astana Process" meeting was set to commence.

The Damascus government forces launched six suicide drones targeting towns and villages in the western Aleppo countryside. One drone struck the town of al-Habata, two targeted the village of al-Qasr, and three others hit the town of Taqad, resulting in three injuries. These areas are controlled by Turkish occupation and its mercenaries.
In contrast, two members of the Damascus government forces were killed in an artillery strike on their positions by Turkey-backed "Hay'at Tahrir al-Sham" in the Nakhshaba area of northern Latakia, within what is known as the "de-escalation zone."
This comes as the 22nd meeting within the "Astana Process" on Syria is set to begin today in the Kazakh capital, Nur-Sultan, with Russia, Turkey, and Iran, (the trio of deal-brokers), participating.
Before every round of the Astana Process, the so-called "de-escalation zones" witness a round of mutual shelling and clashes. In recent days, Russian aircraft have launched intense airstrikes on Idlib and the hills surrounding Kabani in the northern Latakia countryside, amid reports of preparations by "Hay'at Tahrir al-Sham" for a "large-scale military operation against Damascus government forces" in Aleppo and Idlib.
