Kobani marks PYD’s 23rd anniversary, pledge to continue struggle

A meeting was held in the city of Kobani to mark the 23rd anniversary of the founding of the Democratic Union Party (PYD).

The meeting began with a minute of silence, followed by a speech by Bozan Khalil on behalf of the Democratic Union Party. He said, “As everyone knows, the Democratic Union Party is a party of martyrs, founded on the ideas and philosophy of Leader Apo. The party has reached a point today where thousands continue to work tirelessly to realize these ideas.”

Khalil went on to stress the importance of safeguarding the gains of the revolution, building a democratic and decentralized Syria, and protecting the rights of the Kurdish people and all communities in the region.

Aisha Afandi also spoke on behalf of the families of the martyrs and commemorated the anniversary of the founding of the Democratic Union Party.

Aisha Afandi said, “My husband, Salih Muslim, was one of the martyrs of the Democratic Union Party and was among the party’s first founders.”

The meeting concluded with the screening of a documentary about the Democratic Union Party’s struggle.
