Under the slogan: "With the Philosophy of Women, Life, and Freedom—Towards a Democratic Syria," North and East Syria is hosting a series of events to commemorate International Women's Day.

In the city of Hasaka, the Kongra Star organized a women's football match between the teams "Nujiyan" and "Kongra Star".

The match was held at Martyrs’ Stadium in the Mufti neighborhood, attended by dozens of women from the city, as well as members of Autonomous Administration institutions.

Prior to kickoff, Naheda Suleiman, the member of the Kongra Star Coordination in Hasaka, said: "Today, we celebrate March 8. As part of our activities for this occasion, we wanted to organize a women's football match. This day sends a powerful message against authoritarian and oppressive systems. Through this event, we reaffirm that women are capable of achieving success in all fields, including sports."

The match saw fierce competition, with Team Nujiyan, representing the Education and Training Authority, emerging victorious. The winning team was honored at the conclusion of the event.

Sara Organization Unveils its Event Program

In a related development, the Sara Organization for Combating Violence Against Women announced its program for International Women’s Day through an official statement delivered at Martyrs’ Park in Hasaka. The event was attended by dozens of Sara Organization members, representatives of Kongra Star, and members of civil society institutions.

The statement, read by Roza Issa, included the following message: "On this March 8, under the slogan 'Women: The Essence of Civilization in the Middle East,' we celebrate International Women’s Day together. This is a day to honor women's achievements throughout history and to reaffirm our commitment to the struggle for a world that is more just and equal, where every woman and girl has the same opportunities to fulfill her dreams—free from barriers and discrimination."

She further emphasized: "Women are the cornerstone of society—mothers, educators, doctors, leaders, innovators, and agents of change. Despite significant progress in women's rights over the decades, there remains a long road ahead in addressing deep-rooted challenges, including gender-based violence, wage gaps, political and economic marginalization, and the denial of fundamental rights such as education and healthcare."

Issa also declared: "On this day, we raise our voices to say: Enough discrimination against women everywhere! Enough violence against them under any pretext! Yes to girls' education, women's economic empowerment, and their active participation in decision-making. Yes to a society that values diversity and respects human rights without exception."

The Sara Organization called on both men and women to actively participate in this day—not merely in words but through action—stressing that: "Gender equality is not just a women's struggle; it is a human issue that concerns our collective future. Let us work together to build a world where women's dignity is upheld, their contributions are recognized, and they have every opportunity to shape their lives with freedom and security."

During the statement, Sara Organization officially launched its campaign and event program under the theme: "Women: The Essence of Civilization in the Middle East."

The program includes:

Distribution of informational brochures

Organizing lectures on International Women’s Day

Screening a documentary highlighting the history of women’s struggles

Hosting discussion sessions

Raising banners on women’s rights across North and East Syria.
