Second call in a Week: Putin, Netanyahu discuss Syrian issue, regional escalation

Russian President Vladimir Putin and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu held a phone call, their second in a week, to discuss regional escalation, the Syrian issue, and Moscow's efforts to promote negotiated solutions regarding Iran's nuclear program.

Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov announced today that President Vladimir Putin held a phone conversation with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

The statement added: "Vladimir Putin emphasized the importance of supporting Syria's unity, sovereignty, and territorial integrity, as well as strengthening its internal political stability by respecting the legitimate rights and interests of all ethnic and religious groups," according to Russian media.

The statement also noted that "in light of the recent escalation in the Iranian-Israeli confrontation, the Russian side expressed readiness to do everything possible to facilitate negotiated solutions regarding Iran's nuclear program. The two leaders agreed to continue dialogue on current international and bilateral issues."

Today's call between Putin and Netanyahu is the second in a week, with the two leaders previously discussing the Syrian issue and various aspects of the tense situation in the Middle East.
