The Syrian Democratic Council expressed its discontent with the appointment of the government announced yesterday by the Damascus authority, which was supposed to represent a step towards achieving broad participation of Syrian society representatives and finding a comprehensive political solution to end the suffering of the Syrians.

In a statement issued by it, the council pointed out that the new government did not reflect the Syrian diversity in its political and social components, as it was dominated by unilateral tendencies despite the inclusion of some technocrat figures. The council also drew attention to the lack of genuine representation for women, who represent the largest social segment and have suffered greatly over the past years due to displacement, loss, violence, and political marginalization.

The Syrian Democratic Council confirmed that forming a government in this manner cannot be considered a step towards a solution, as it is controlled by a single entity with a clear ideological bias. The council stated that sweet words and superficial slogans cannot change the reality, emphasizing that any real government must be based on genuine national partnership and must include all active forces on the ground.

The council indicated that the appointment approach followed since the formation of the dialogue committee shows the Damascus authority's lack of commitment to the basic rules of participation and diversity, which warns of the absence of a genuine transitional phase to correct the construction of the Syrian state according to sound political standards.

The council called on all Syrian national forces to work together to build a new political path based on genuine democratic principles and taking into account the rights of all components, away from exclusionary policies that have proven their failure.

The council also emphasized the necessity of avoiding the repetition of past mistakes in using tools that have not proven effective in managing the state or achieving stability.

The statement concluded by emphasizing that Syria needs new solutions based on dialogue and consensus instead of reproducing the same methods that have exacerbated the crisis and prolonged the suffering of the Syrian people.
