The Zenobia Women's Gathering (KJZ) has issued a written statement today regarding the appointment of the new government by the Damascus authority. The statement reads as follows:

"We at the Zenobia Women's Gathering, are following with great concern the recent political developments in Damascus, particularly the announcement of the new government formation. We view this government as a continuation of the exclusionary and marginalizing policies long pursued by the ruling authority, representing a blatant disregard for the will of the Syrian people and their aspirations for genuine democratic change.

We categorically reject this government, which neither represents us nor reflects our aspirations. Like its predecessors, this government serves merely as a tool in the hands of the de facto authority, aiming to perpetuate the status quo and consolidate its control over the country’s resources.

We firmly believe that both this government and the current constitutional framework lack popular legitimacy, as they result from a flawed and externally imposed political process that does not reflect the free will of the Syrian people. Any government seeking to achieve stability and prosperity in Syria must be based on broad national consensus and must fairly and genuinely represent all components of Syrian society.

In particular, we reject the continued marginalization of women in political life. The representation of women in this government is merely superficial and tokenistic, failing to reflect their active and influential role in Syrian society. We emphasize that gender equality and the empowerment of women in all fields are fundamental prerequisites for building a democratic and just society.

Accordingly, we in the Zenobia Women's Gathering affirm the following:

Our outright rejection of the newly announced government in Damascus, considering it illegitimate and unrepresentative of the Syrian people's will.

Our insistence that any political solution in Syria must be based on a broad national consensus that ensures fair and genuine representation of all components of Syrian society, including women.

Our demand for meaningful and effective representation of women in all state institutions, including the government, parliament, and judiciary.

Our assertion that achieving gender equality and empowering women is a fundamental condition for building a democratic and just society.

Our call for a comprehensive national dialogue involving all Syrian parties to reach a political solution that ends the Syrian crisis and fulfills the people's aspirations for freedom, justice, and democracy.

Our solidarity with the Autonomous Administration in its rejection of the implementation and enforcement of decisions issued by the Damascus authority, considering this a necessary step to protect the rights and interests of the Syrian people.

The policies pursued by the Damascus government only serve to deepen the Syrian crisis and return the country to square one. We call on the international community to assume its responsibilities towards the Syrian people and to exert pressure on Damascus to engage in a genuine political process leading to a just and comprehensive resolution of the crisis.

We remain committed to our fundamental demands for building a democratic, participatory, and decentralized Syria—one that respects human rights and fundamental freedoms while ensuring equality and justice for all citizens. We firmly believe that Syria’s future can only be a pluralistic democracy that respects diversity and guarantees the rights of all its components.

We call upon all national and democratic forces in Syria to unite and work together towards achieving these noble goals. We are confident that the Syrian people are capable of realizing the desired democratic change and building a better future for generations to come."
