SDC confirms its readiness to communicate with political forces in occupied territories

This came during the regular meeting of the Presidential Body of the Syrian Democratic Council, in the presence of the co-chairmanship, Leyla Qaraman, Dr. Mahmoud al-Musalat, the deputies of the co-chairmanship, and the heads of offices.

The meeting began with a minute of silence in honor of the souls of the martyrs, followed by a comprehensive assessment of the political situation and current crises at the international, regional and local levels, in light of the multiple tensions and conflicts that cast a shadow over the Syrian crisis that has been ongoing for more than a decade. The co-chairmanship of the Council stressed the need to restore international attention to working to find a comprehensive solution to the Syrian issue.

Regarding the Turkish threats and its continuous targeting of the region and its infrastructure, the Commission stressed that the threats and Turkey’s hostility towards the components of North and East Syria and their national democratic project play the most prominent role obstructing national solutions to the Syrian crisis.

The Body said that they are open to communicating with all national forces in the occupied territories in order to join hands, end the occupation, and achieve democratic transformation.

The attendees also indicated that the Arab countries have the main role in finding a settlement for the Syrian crisis in accordance with international decisions in a way that preserves the country’s unity.

The Council’s Body reaffirmed the importance of continuing the path of Syrian-Syrian dialogue and communicating with various groups and segments of Syrian society to reach common ground for national forces, actors, and democratic figures, and to achieve consensuses that lead to building a front that will undertake the task of finding a way out of the Syrian crisis.

The meeting also devoted an aside to discussing organizational affairs and continuing work according to the national strategy to include all Syrian regions.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the members of the  Council’s Body    listened to the monthly reports and reviewed the Council’s offices’ work plans and programs for the month of June, which is scheduled to witness the holding of a broad civil society forum.
