Researcher: Erdogan does not have the courage to sever his ties with Tel Aviv

A researcher in international relations mentioned that Erdogan's lamenting over Palestine and Lebanon is nothing but verbal statements, serving his hidden agendas. He pointed out that there is only one case in which we can believe Erdogan, which is the withdrawal of his army from the areas it occupies in Syria.

At a time when the President of the Turkish occupying state, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, is lamenting the Palestinian and Lebanese peoples who are being bombed by Israel, the Turkish occupying state continues its occupation policies in Syria and Iraq. It also kills civilians and constantly targets the infrastructure and services in North and East Syria, not to mention its Turkification policies in the Syrian areas it occupies.

The international relations researcher Hani al-Jamal considered the statements of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan as an attempt to export his country's internal crises, stating that they "indicate he is a pragmatic man who sees only his personal interest, not even the interest of his country. He tries to benefit from all the situations around him. After the escalation of the war in Gaza overshadowed all voices in the world, even covering the Russian-Ukrainian war, he is trying to benefit from this file to cover up his economic failure in internal matters in Turkey."

Al-Jamal pointed out that Erdogan "is practicing a complete and comprehensive occupation in an area 30 km deep inside Syrian territory, not to mention the terrorist attacks he carries out in Iraqi territory, and he is also practicing state terrorism against Iraq by controlling the water."

The researcher in international relations explains the reason why Erdogan's words do not turn into actions, stating that "Erdogan has good relations with America, and the balance of interests always leans towards Israel, Israeli security, and the expansion of the Israeli state, and there should be movement in the Middle East region and a geopolitical change in this area," on one hand.

On the other hand, Al-Jamal believes that "Ankara still maintains close ties with Tel Aviv, even though it is not one of the three countries (Egypt, Qatar, and the United States) mediating between Israel and Hamas." She also did not fulfill its promises to sever ties with Israel or to break the blockade on Gaza, as happened with the Mavi Marmara ship.

Al-Jamal explained that through verbal propaganda, "Erdogan is trying to exploit it for his own benefit," but he believes it has "revealed their (Tel Aviv and Ankara) relations." So far, he is still keen on developing trade relations with Israel. Moreover, the person who claimed to be the caliph of Muslims does not have the courage to sever ties with Tel Aviv, even symbolically.

In response to the question of when we should trust someone like Erdogan, Al-Jamal said that there is no time to trust Erdogan except through actions. If he must be trusted, he should withdraw from Syria and there should be support for the Syrians and for the Syrian-Syrian dialogue, in order to establish a good political system in Syria.
