2,193 students accepted in universities in North, East Syria

2,193 students were accepted in the three universities in North and East Syria and the institutes affiliated with the Democratic Autonomous Administration bodies.

The process of registering students in the universities of North and East Syria for the academic year (2024-2025) began last August and ended at the beginning of October. New students took the entrance exam in the scientific and professional departments, to be accepted in colleges and institutes according to the results of this exam.

Number of students

According to what the co-chair of the Coordination of Universities in North and East Syria, Khalil Ali, told ANHA's agency, the number of students accepted in Rojava University reached 827 students, in Kobani University 435 students, and in the University of the East 326 students.

In addition to the colleges and institutes affiliated with the 3 universities in the region, there are institutes affiliated with the education, culture and health bodies of the Democratic Autonomous Administration in the North and East Syria region.

494 male and female students were accepted into the teacher training institutes affiliated with the Education Authority in Qamishlo, Hasakah and Shahba.

45 male and female students were also accepted into the health institutes in Shahba and Hasakah, and 66 male and female students were accepted into the Higher Institute of Arts.

New colleges and institutes

The Mesopotamian Movement for Democratic Culture and Art (TEV-ÇAND), in cooperation with the Culture Authority in the Jazira Canton, opened the Higher Institute of Arts in North and East Syria this year, headquartered in the city of Derik.

The Institute of Administration and Law at Kobani University was transformed into the Faculty of Law, the Higher Institute of Media was opened there, and the Kindergarten Department was added to the Faculty of Education.

At the University of the East, the Kurdish Language Institute was opened in Tabqa and Raqqa, and the Institute of Electrical and Mechanical Engineering in Tabqa.

4,775 students studying in universities in North and East Syria

The number of students for the academic year (2024-2025) reached 2721 students at Rojava University, 1459 students at Kobani University and 595 students at the University of the East.

The academic year began in these universities on October 6.
