Report: 45 women murdered in Iran, Eastern Kurdistan during 4 months

A human rights report revealed that 45 women were killed in Iran and Eastern Kurdistan during the first four months of this year.

The report, issued today by the human rights organization "Hengaw," stated that most of these crimes were committed by family members, including husbands and relatives, with motives ranging from so-called "honor" killings to family disputes and psychological issues.

According to the report, the crimes were distributed as follows: 17 cases in March, 19 in April, 6 in May, and 3 in June. Various methods of violence were used, including shooting, stabbing, and physical torture. Last year, the organization documented the killing of 158 women and over 16,000 cases of domestic violence, reflecting the widespread issue of gender-based violence and the ongoing impunity of perpetrators due to the lack of adequate legal and social protections.

The organization called on international human rights bodies to urgently intervene and provide effective protection mechanisms for women in a system that restricts their rights and perpetuates a culture of impunity.
