Bafel Talabani, President of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK), emphasized the importance of ensuring the rights of all communities, particularly the Kurdish people in Syria, during a meeting with a high-level British delegation in Hawler.

According to a statement from the PUK’s Media Office, the meeting took place at the party’s political bureau headquarters. The British delegation included Edward Algreen, the UK’s Middle East and North Africa Advisor, and Andrew Beasley, the British Consul in South Kurdistan. In addition to Dr. Qusrat Rasul, the PUK’s relations official, and Major General Bakhtiar Mohammed, Secretary-General of the Peshmerga Ministry.

 The discussions covered security developments in Iraq and Southern Kurdistan, ways to enhance cooperation between the Peshmerga forces and the Iraqi army, and coordination with the international coalition in the fight against ISIS mercenaries.

Talabani expressed appreciation for the role of the coalition forces, particularly the UK, in countering terrorism threats. He highlighted the ongoing danger posed by ISIS, calling for new strategies to address regional security challenges.

 Talabani underscored the need to establish peace and stability while ensuring the rights of all components. He specifically emphasized the importance of protecting the rights of the Kurdish people in Syria as part of a comprehensive and just political solution.
