Raqqa celebrates Kurdish Language Day

To mark Kurdish Language Day, the Education and Teaching Body in Raqqa Canton organized a celebration at the Martyr Zilan Ali Forat School, located north of Raqqa city. The event was attended by a large number of teachers, students, and individuals interested in Kurdish culture, as well as the Co-Chair of the Executive Council in Raqqa Canton, Mishlab Al-Turkan, and the Co-Chair of the Education and Teaching Body in the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria, Samira Hajj Ali, along with her deputies and members of civil institutions.

The beauty of Kurdish heritage was on full display during the celebration, as Kurdish participants wore traditional Kurdish attire, known for its bright colors and distinctive designs.

The event began with a moment of silence, followed by a welcoming speech from the Co-Chair of the Education and Teaching Body in Raqqa Canton, Zuleikha Abdi. She honored the memory of the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for freedom.

Zuleikha Abdi stressed the pivotal role of the Kurdish language in preserving the cultural identity of the Kurdish people, as was the case with other oppressed nations. She emphasized the need to promote its use in all aspects of life, especially in education.

The celebration included various activities highlighting the importance and rich history of the Kurdish language, along with artistic and cultural performances presented by the students.
