Jazira Canton Intellectuals’ Union elects new co-presidency
The sixth conference of the Union of Intellectuals in Jazira Canton concluded its proceedings with the election of an administrative body consisting of seven members, and the election of a new co-presidency for the union, namely Yousif Koti and Firouz Rashk.
The sixth conference of the Union of Intellectuals in Jazira Canton began this morning under the slogan "The Intellectual is the Voice of a Free Democratic Society," held at the Afrin Hall in the city of Qamishlo, in the North and East Syria region.
The conference was attended by 134 delegates, in addition to representatives from the Democratic Society Movement (TEV-DEM), institutions of the Democratic Autonomous Administration, cultural institutions, the Council of Martyrs’ Families, and representatives of political parties.
The conference proceedings began with several speeches, the first of which was delivered on behalf of the Union of Intellectuals in Jazira Canton, followed by a speech from the co-chair of the Democratic Society Movement (TEV-DEM), and a speech on behalf of the Culture Authority in Jazira Canton.
The conference included the formation of a secretariat to oversee its proceedings, a presentation of a video synopsis about the union’s activities over the past two years, and a reading of a report on the union’s activities during this period.
The internal regulations of the union were ratified after discussing some of their clauses and terminology by the conference members.
The union also restructured its administrative framework by electing seven members to the administrative body and electing a new co-presidency for the union.
According to the final statement of the conference, the union’s members ratified the internal regulations, elected the administrative body, and chose Yousif Koti and Firouz Rashk as the new co-presidency of the union.
