protest in Swedia demands the right to self-determination

Residents of Swedia organized a protest today in al-Karama Square, demanding the right to self-determination and the return of their abducted sons.

One of the protesters, waiting for the return of her only son, her sole provider, said that his absence exacerbates her health problems, as she suffers from a heart condition. Other displaced women affirmed their resilience and pride, stating that "the al-Julani government is illegitimate; it has killed, looted, and abducted women whom it does not represent."

The banners and statements distributed by the participants expressed their rejection of the interim government in Syria and demanded the right to self-determination, affirming that "the mountain will remain steadfast thanks to the resolve of every honorable person."

Since July of this year, Swedia has witnessed daily protests and demonstrations rejecting the authority of the interim government and demanding the right to self-determination, following an attack launched by the interim government forces on Swedia and its surrounding countryside that left hundreds dead and others abducted.
