Establishment of “Free Women of Bashan Movement” in Sweida

A women’s organization called the “Free Women of Bashan Movement” was announced in Sweida, aiming to enhance women’s participation, defend their rights, and empower them, with a focus on the issue of abducted women and community work.

The new organization, “Free Women of Bashan Movement,” was announced in Sweida on Saturday during a founding meeting held at the “Rayat Bayt al-Fan Forum,” opposite the Roman amphitheater.

According to its members, the movement seeks to enhance women’s participation in public affairs and defend their rights, with particular focus on the file of abducted women and community and legal work in Sweida and in Syria in general.

They affirmed that launching this movement represents a step toward empowering women and expanding their role in civic life and decision-making, as a women-led vision that seeks to create an active space for women’s voices in local and national issues.

The “Free Women of Bashan Movement” is considered the first women’s organization to be established in Sweida, following the suffering women have endured and the violations and injustices they faced in recent months, especially in July of this year.
