Preparations for Rojava International Film Festival underway 

The organizing committee of the Rojava International Film Festival has started preparations for the festival’s sixth edition. So far, a preparatory committee has been formed, and within the coming days applications for films and cinematic works are expected to open.

According to information obtained by ANHA agency from the committee, submissions will be open to creators and filmmakers at the international level, while the festival’s events are scheduled to be held in November 2026.

The organizing committee has not yet determined the final host city for the festival, nor has it announced the number of films and productions that will participate in the new edition.

The fifth edition of the Rojava International Film Festival was held in the city of Qamishlo from 13 to 20 November 2025, with the participation of 81 films and 22 film scripts.

The films featured in the previous edition included 8 international films, 21 documentaries, 8 Kurdish films, 37 short films, in addition to 7 Syrian films.

The Rojava International Film Festival is considered one of the region’s most prominent cultural and artistic events. Its first edition was launched in November 2016, while the second edition was held on 13 November 2017 in the city of Qamishlo. The third edition took place in November 2018 in Kobani, while Qamishlo hosted the fourth edition on 13 November.
