Teachers in Tel Tamer stress their commitment to education in the mother tongue

On the occasion of Kurdish Language Day, which falls on May 15, the school administration in Tel Tamer issued a statement today, read in both Arabic by teacher Rodi Russo and Kurdish by teacher Hevidar Mohammed Ali, at the administration headquarters in the city. The statement was attended by Kurdish language teachers and members of civil society organizations.

The statement described Kurdish Language Day as a historical milestone in the Kurdish people's struggle to preserve their language, culture, and national identity, and a commemoration of the sacrifices of martyrs and freedom fighters who defended the freedom of peoples and their right to learn in their mother tongue.

The statement also noted that the region is going through a critical phase that necessitates protecting the gains achieved in recent years, particularly those related to the rights of the Kurdish language and culture.
