Netanyahu calls for wider operations in Lebanon

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu acknowledged that Hezbollah’s rockets and drones represent two “major threats,” calling on military commanders to eliminate them.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said today that the rockets and drones possessed by Hezbollah require continued military action in Lebanon, despite the ceasefire agreement between the two sides.

In a statement issued by his office, Netanyahu pointed to “two central threats from Hezbollah: 122 mm rockets and drones. This requires a combination of operational and technological activity.”

He added that Hezbollah “has around 10 percent of the rockets it had when the war began. However, they still remain a concern for residents of the north,” referring to Israeli areas bordering Lebanon.

He continued: “We are currently carrying out strikes within the security zone (established by Israel in southern Lebanon), north of it, and further north beyond the Litani River,” renewing Israel’s insistence on its right to do so based on the agreement “with the United States and the Lebanese government.”
