Kurdistan Liberation Movement withdraws from Zap to more suitable areas

The leadership of the Kurdistan Liberation Movement stated in a statement that the guerrilla forces had withdrawn from the Zap region, where they were at risk of war, to other areas since 16 November. It said: “We believe this new step will contribute to resolving the Kurdish issue, as well as to peace and democracy in Turkey.”

The statement issued by the leadership of the Kurdistan Liberation Movement read as follows:

“In our statement during the press conference held on 26 October, attended by 25 of our fighters who withdrew from the Turkish borders to the Medya defense areas, we announced that we would take measures to prevent the outbreak of conflict in border regions where clashes are likely. Since then, based on the work carried out by the relevant parties, we have reached an important outcome in the Zap region. As of the evening of 16 November, our forces withdrew from the Zap region, which posed a risk of conflict, to other suitable areas. The risk of conflict in this region has now been completely eliminated.

Following the withdrawal of the guerrilla forces from inside the Turkish borders, this withdrawal and the correction we carried out in the Zap region represent a significant practical contribution to the development and success of the peace and democratic society process launched by Leader Abdullah Ocalan. It once again demonstrates our commitment to this process, and we believe that this new step will contribute to resolving the Kurdish issue and achieving peace and democracy in Turkey.
