Kurdistan Democratic Union Party renews its support for NE, Syria

On the occasion of the 22nd anniversary of the founding of the Democratic Union Party (PYD), political delegations and public figures, including representatives from both ruling and opposition parties, visited the representative office of the Northeast Syria in the city of Sulaymaniyah.

During the visit, Salar Mahmoud, a member of the political bureau of the Kurdistan Democratic Union Party, reiterated his party’s support for the Northeast Syria experience, stressing the necessity to respect the will of its people and reject any external interference in its internal affairs.

The Kurdish delegation included the Governor of Sulaymaniyah, Haval Abu Bakr, officials from the Union’s branch in the city, as well as representatives from the Mam Jalal Foundation and the party’s media outlets. They conveyed their congratulations to the Democratic Union Party on this occasion.

In a statement to Roj News Agency, Salar Mahmoud described the Democratic Union Party as "a Kurdish national force that played a pivotal role in launching the Western Kurdistan revolution." He considered the party-led experience "a significant historical achievement that has endured despite persistent pressures from al-Assad regime and other forces."

He highlighted that one of the most prominent features of this experience is "the leadership role of women, which has reached a global level," affirming the Kurdistan Democratic Union’s strong support for this endeavor.

Mahmoud also recalled that "the Kurdistan Democratic Union was among the first parties to propose a motion in the Kurdistan Regional Parliament to recognize the Autonomous Administration in Western Kurdistan, which was later formalized through an official decision, alongside its material and moral contributions to rebuilding Kobani and supporting the resilience of Afrin and other areas."

He concluded by saying: "The fate must be determined by the people of Western Kurdistan themselves. At the same time, it is crucial to enhance national and ethnic cohesion between the Kurdistan Region and Western Kurdistan in a manner that serves the Kurdish cause as a whole.
