The conference titled "Unity of Ranks and Kurdish Position in Rojava Kurdistan," recently held in the city of Qamishlo, resulted in several recommendations, foremost among them the formation of a unified Kurdish delegation aimed at negotiating with the Damascus authorities regarding the political and cultural rights of the Kurdish people and ensuring their inclusion in the Syrian constitution. The delegation is scheduled to head to Damascus in the coming days to begin its tasks.
In this context, the notables of the Kurdish tribes in Derbasiyah expressed their full support for the delegation representing the Kurds, stressing that its primary mission should focus on ensuring the inclusion of the Kurdish people's rights in the Syrian constitution.
"The Kurdish people have suffered for many years from injustice and oppression at the hands of successive authorities. Today, the delegation formed to represent the Kurdish people in Damascus consists of the sons of this land, known for their history of struggle and recognized political work," Mohammad Rashad Ezzat Haj Khalil, the notable of the Al-Omariyin tribe said.
He added: "We hope that the delegation will work to enshrine the legitimate rights of the Kurdish people in the Syrian constitution, and we will not accept anything less. All the figures participating in the delegation have engaged in a long political struggle and enjoy wide acceptance among our people."
He continued: "The main demand from the delegation is to ensure the inclusion of the Kurdish people's rights in the Syrian constitution and laws. We are the sons of this land for thousands of years, with a rich history and an authentic presence in Syria, and therefore our rights must be safeguarded democratically. We will not accept any diminishment of them."
Haj Jamal Haj Mansour, the notable of the Al-Omara tribe, pointed out that the Kurdish negotiating delegation consists of the sons of the Kurdish people themselves, known within the Kurdish community for their long struggle and prominent political contributions.
"These representatives are well aware of the extent of injustice and oppression our people have faced over the decades. They are trustworthy and responsible, and they will carry out their duties to the fullest in defense of their people's demands," Haj Mansour said.
He concluded: "Our main demands are clear, focusing on enshrining the cultural and political rights of the Kurdish people in the Syrian constitution, alongside recognizing a decentralized system of governance.
We also emphasize the need for the Syrian Democratic Forces to remain a unified force within the structure of the Syrian army, as they represent a security guarantee for the liberated areas where sacrifices have been made."
