KNK: Kurdish unity is no longer an option, but an existential necessity
The Kurdistan National Congress (KNC) affirmed the Kurdish people's rejection of taking sides in the ongoing conflict between Israel and Iran, and that Kurdish unity is no longer an option, but rather an existential necessity.

The statement indicated that the conflict between the two sides is not a recent development, but rather stems from chronic disagreements that have spanned decades. He added, "The region has long witnessed indirect confrontations between Israel and parallel regional powers. However, the confrontation has transformed over the past ten days into a direct conflict between Iran and Israel, with the United States joining in since last night. This accelerating escalation portends a wider war, which began in Gaza and has spread to Lebanon, Syria, and Yemen. Now, it has reached Iranian territory, thus becoming an international crisis."
The Kurdistan National Congress reiterated "the steadfast position of the Kurdish people, who reject taking sides in this conflict," adding, "Despite our efforts to distance ourselves from this war, its impact is being felt across the region, both in the land and the people. Areas of Eastern Kurdistan are being bombed, and their residents are suffering the consequences of these operations. Drones and missiles are also flying over Kurdistan from various conflicting parties. We were not a party to this war, but we find ourselves targeted in its context."
In its assessment of the conflict's outcomes, the statement explained: "This war, which erupted 21 months ago, is still ongoing, threatening major repercussions that could lead to the collapse of previous agreements such as Sykes-Picot and Lausanne, potentially paving the way for a redrawing of the region's map. Here, the importance of Kurdish preparedness for these transformations is highlighted, as Kurdish unity becomes an urgent and historic necessity, requiring immediate action and strengthening relations between all Kurdish forces."
The Kurdistan National Congress affirmed its full commitment to supporting Kurdish unity efforts, stating: "We are an active part of this movement, and we will continue our work more effectively, especially in light of the increasing focus on Eastern Kurdistan. We have begun working with political parties and organizations there for some time to establish a common platform, and we are working to develop coordination mechanisms and intensify visits, meetings, and dialogues to ensure a unified position."
The conference concluded its statement by calling on all Kurdish forces, parties, and organizations, particularly in Eastern Kurdistan, to provide full support for these efforts and to work to hold a joint meeting as soon as possible to develop a unified strategy that serves the aspirations of the Kurdish people.
The conference also called on Iran, Israel, and the United States to immediately cease fighting and adopt peaceful solutions and dialogue as a means to resolve outstanding issues, thus sparing the peoples of the region further destruction and suffering.
