KDP still arresting journalist of Roj Agency's Suleiman Ahmed

Roj News Agency reported that the authorities of the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) continue to kidnap its editor, Suleiman Ahmed, for the 11th day, no information has been received about him, despite media pressure and appeals to release him.

Roj News denounced the arrest of its agency member, and called on KDP authorities to reveal his fate and release him immediately. It also rejected and strongly condemned the false accusations leveled by the “Asayish” in Dohuk, pointing out that KDP authorities are responsible for Suleiman’s safety.

In this context, Reporters Without Borders expressed its concern about the kidnapping of journalist Suleiman Ahmed during a post on the “X” platform in which it indicated that he had been kidnapped by KDP and stressed the need for his immediate release.

It read: “Suleiman Ahmed was arrested by KDP on the Syrian border, and the security forces in the Kurdistan region must release him immediately.”

KDP authorities kidnapped Suleiman Ahmed, the journalist and editor of the Arabic section at Roj News Agency, at the Faysh Khabur gate after his return to southern Kurdistan from Syria on the 25th of last October.

Journalist Suleiman Ahmed crossed into NR Syria through the crossing legally, coming from Sulaymaniyah in southern Kurdistan.
