The Israeli army stated in a press release today that its forces received the body of a hostage from the ICRC team in the Gaza Strip, and that it "is now en route to Israel."

The Israeli Army Radio, citing the office of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, reported that the body belonged to a hostage held captive in Gaza. The radio station did not confirm the identity of the deceased.

The Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of Hamas, had previously announced that they would hand over the body of Lieutenant Hadar Goldin, which was found yesterday afternoon in a tunnel in the Yabna refugee camp in Rafah, southern Gaza Strip. This would leave the remains of six Israeli hostages still at large.

Since the ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas was signed on October 13, Hamas has handed over 20 living Israeli prisoners to Israel, as well as a number of bodies, while Israel has released about 2,000 Palestinian prisoners and the bodies of Palestinian prisoners.
