Iraqi Prime Minister visits Federal Region of Southern Kurdistan

Today, Iraq’s newly appointed prime minister is holding talks with officials in the Federal Region of Southern Kurdistan during an official visit that includes scheduled meetings in Hawler and Sulaymaniyah, as part of efforts to form the next government.

Prime Minister-designate Ali Al-Zaidi has begun an official visit to the Federal Kurdistan Region to conduct a series of meetings with regional leaders.

According to a source cited by “Roj News,” Al-Zaidi will arrive in Hawler, where he is expected to meet Kurdistan Democratic Party leader Masoud Barzani, President of the Southern Kurdistan Region Nechirvan Barzani, and Prime Minister of the Region Masrour Barzani.

Roj News added that Al-Zaidi will then travel to Sulaymaniyah to meet Patriotic Union of Kurdistan leader Bafel Talabani, with the possibility of holding additional meetings with political parties in the province that have parliamentary representation.

Ali Al-Zaidi is considered a prominent political figure in Iraq. He was officially tasked with forming the government after securing the support of the largest parliamentary bloc last week. He is currently continuing consultations with political forces to finalize the cabinet and obtain the confidence of the Council of Representatives.
