Iranian Authorities arrest 3 Kurdish citizens amid uncertainty over their fate

Human rights reports indicate that forces affiliated with Iran’s Ministry of Intelligence carried out a series of raids and arrests over the past few days, targeting three Kurdish citizens in the cities of Kamyaran and Bukan, with their fate remaining unknown.

According to a report published by the Kurdistan Human Rights Network, intelligence forces raided the homes of Sardar Rahmani and Ehsan Rahmani on June 12, confiscating their mobile phones before ordering them to report to the Intelligence Office in Kamyaran. Since then, all contact with them has been lost, and no information has been provided regarding their place of detention or legal situation.

The report noted that the Rahmani brothers had previously been summoned for questioning last year over their participation in Newroz celebrations and for displaying Kurdish symbols. They were released after several hours of interrogation.

In a separate incident, the network reported that intelligence forces raided the home of Youssef Amini, a teacher from the city of Bukan, in the Ali Awa neighborhood on June 13, arresting him without presenting a judicial warrant.

Amini had previously participated in organizing a local celebration during which many participants wore traditional Kurdish clothing, which authorities reportedly cited as a reason for summoning and interrogating him.

The network added that security agencies linked the traditional attire worn by participants to the clothing associated with Peshmerga fighters, using this claim as justification for the detention of Amini and several others who took part in the event.

According to human rights organizations, these arrests come amid ongoing pressure and security measures targeting Kurdish citizens in Iran. Rights groups have called for the immediate disclosure of the detainees’ whereabouts and for guarantees that their legal and human rights are fully respected.
