Iran sentences a Kurdish language teacher to 10 years in prison
The Iranian state sentenced Kurdish language teacher Soma Pourmohammadi to 10 years in prison.
The Iranian State Revolutionary Court in the city of Sinh, Eastern Kurdistan, ruled that Kurdish language teacher Soma Pourmohammadi be imprisoned for 10 years and dismissed from her job.
Soma Pourmohammadi, a Kurdish language teacher who is at the same time a member of the Executive Committee of the Nojin Council, is accused of "organizing groups and organizations that undermine the security of Iran."
Soma Pourmohammadi had previously been sentenced to one year in prison on charges of "disturbing public order."
