Hilal Zerin organizes artistic events in Qamishlo to support YPJ

On Wednesday, the Hilal Zerin Movement for Women's Culture and Art organized a cultural event as part of the "YPJ Represents Us" Campaign, launched to support the Women's Protection Units (YPJ) and advocate for their recognition as an official force in the Syrian constitution, at the Mohamed Sheikho Center for Culture and Art in Qamishlo city.

Dozens of local residents, female fighters from the Women's Protection Units, as well as representatives from various women's movements and organizations participated in the event.

The event began with a speech that highlighted the history of the YPJ's establishment and their pivotal role in safeguarding the region from ISIS mercenaries, who specifically targeted women and society at large. The speech emphasized that these units have become a legitimate force representing women, significantly boosting their self-confidence and enabling their participation across various aspects of life in pursuit of freedom.

The speech emphasized that these events, along with those that preceded them, were aimed at expressing rejection of the stance that refuses to recognize the YPJ, as well as continuing to demand official recognition of these units.

The event featured two theatrical performances presented by the Darsi Troupe affiliated with the Hilal Zerin Movement in Hasaka city; the first titled "Pêt û Ar" and the second titled "Tola Keziyan".

The two theatrical works focused on the suffering endured by women and their struggle to attain freedom and self-determination, particularly following the establishment of Women's Protection Units, which gave women the confidence to continue their path towards freedom and the realization of their rights.

The attendees' role extended beyond simply attending the artistic performances; they expressed their support for the Women's Protection Units, emphasizing their pivotal role in safeguarding the region, preserving women's dignity and existence, and rejecting any attempts to marginalize them. They reaffirmed their commitment to standing alongside these units in all supporting events and initiatives.

The event concluded with the opening of an art exhibition by mothers of martyrs and several female combatants from the Women's Protection Units, featuring paintings that depicted women's struggles within these units, amid the ululations of the mothers and supportive slogans for the Women's Protection Units.

The event is scheduled to run for two consecutive days at the Mohamed Sheikho Center for Culture and Art in Qamishlo city.
