Politicians and community figures warned of the dangers that the spread of hate speech in Syria poses to civil peace, calling for an end to media incitement, regulation of online content, and support for Syrian–Syrian dialogue. They criticized the absence of measures by the transitional government to curb sectarian incitement from figures operating under its authority. (With photos and video.) 

The al-Ghab Plain in Hama countryside is facing a severe crisis due to unprecedented drought and the widespread growth of water hyacinth, which is choking irrigation canals, disrupting irrigation, and consuming large quantities of water—threatening agriculture and the livelihoods of thousands of farmers. The problem has worsened amid the absence of any fundamental solutions and reliance instead on temporary cleaning campaigns that do not stop the spread of this invasive plant.

Maryam Ibrahim, spokesperson for the Autonomous Administration’s delegation negotiating with Damascus, affirmed that the obstacles to implementing the March 10 Agreement do not come from the Autonomous Administration, and that it is the transitional government in Syria that is delaying. The fall of the Baathist regime in Syria brought joy and celebration to many Syrians; however, this feeling did not last long due to political, military, and security steps aimed at domination—measures that do not bode well for the country’s present or future, and that threaten the continuation of conflict, wars, and further loss of life.
