In a vibrant festive atmosphere, Hasaka city on Monday evening saw a celebratory car parade organized by members of the Syriac-Assyrian community on the occasion of Akitu, which is observed annually on April 1.

The parade set off from City Bus Square in the Al-Nasra neighborhood, touring the city’s streets amid joyful scenes. Participants raised national and cultural flags, alongside banners of Syriac-Assyrian parties, in a display reflecting adherence to their national and historical identity.

This event comes as part of the the annual celebration program in the Jazira region, which includes parades, festivals, and cultural activities, reaffirming the revival of one of the oldest holidays in the region’s history and renewing ties to its civilizational roots.
