Fatah: we reject any guardianship or mandate, adhere to Palestinian legitimacy

In its statement, Fatah stressed its categorical rejection of any kind of trusteeship or external mandate over the Palestinian people, emphasizing that the PLO remains the sole legitimate representative and reference for the Palestinian cause.

The movement welcomed the idea of forming a professional administrative committee to manage Gaza’s affairs, on the condition that it operates under the authority of the State of Palestine’s government, warning that any deviation from this framework would deepen the internal division and serve Israel’s goals of separating Gaza from the West Bank and Jerusalem.

Fatah also reaffirmed that security in Gaza must remain the responsibility of the official Palestinian security forces, and that any international presence should be limited only to the borders, with a clear mandate from the UN Security Council, without infringing upon Palestinian sovereignty.

The movement further clarified that the role of the International Peace Committee should be restricted to monitoring, ensuring the cessation of hostilities, and overseeing reconstruction efforts, not interfering in Palestinian national decision-making.

Regarding Palestinian weapons, Fatah stated that the issue must be addressed within a national framework that ensures one authority, one weapon, and one law, in order to safeguard unity, stability, and a unified national position.

This statement came after a meeting of Palestinian factions in Cairo to discuss the second phase of the Trump Plan for Gaza, which includes reconstruction, the deployment of international, Arab, and Islamic forces, and the formation of a Palestinian technocratic government under international supervision.
