Egyptian Foreign Minister: 15 Palestinian figures to manage Gaza for six months

The Egyptian Foreign Minister announced the establishment of a temporary administration for the Gaza Strip lasting six months, led by 15 Palestinian technocrats under the supervision of the Palestinian Authority. Today, Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdel Ati stated that the governance of Gaza will be entrusted to “15 Palestinian technocratic figures under the oversight of the Palestinian Authority” for a transitional period of six months, reaffirming “the organic unity between Gaza and the West Bank.”

He clarified that the existing arrangements outline a temporary transitional framework within the authority of the Palestinian leadership.

Minister Abdel Ati further noted that Cairo is working closely with Qatar and the United States to reinstate a 60-day ceasefire in Gaza as part of renewed efforts to end the war between Israel and Hamas.

Speaking at a press conference in Cairo, Abdel Ati said, “We are exerting great efforts currently in full coordination with the Qataris and Americans.”

He added, “The primary goal is to return to the initial proposal a 60-day ceasefire along with the release of some hostages and Palestinian detainees, and the unhindered delivery of humanitarian and medical aid to Gaza without conditions.”

Regarding demands for Hamas to disarm, Abdel Ati told Sky News Arabia that “establishing a political horizon for the realization of the Palestinian state is what guarantees the unity and exclusivity of arms in the hands of the state.”

The Egyptian Foreign Minister condemned Israeli attempts to displace Palestinians, stating, “There is no legal or moral justification for expelling Palestinians from their land… if this happens, they will never return to their land again… Israel aims only to give them a one-way exit ticket.”
