The Damascus authority sent a written message to Washington in response to a list of eight U.S. conditions for the partial lifting of sanctions, confirming their commitment to the majority of the demands, while some require "mutual understandings."

The message, published by Reuters, clarified that the Damascus authority had formed a committee to monitor the activities of Palestinian factions, suspended granting military ranks to foreigners, and pledged not to threaten any party, including Israel.

The document also included a commitment to establish a liaison office in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Damascus authority to follow up on the case of missing American journalist Austin Tice and to expand cooperation with the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons.

The response came after a meeting between U.S. official Natasha Franceski and the Syrian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Assad al-Shaibani, in Brussels last month.

According to Reuters, Washington is currently evaluating the response from Damascus without taking an official stance, emphasizing that any future normalization steps will be based on actions by the "interim authorities."
