Children face harsh humanitarian conditions after displacement

During ANHA agency's monitoring of the situation of forcibly displaced families in the city of Amuda, the sight of the children was the most striking. Their faces bore the most truthful witness to the magnitude of the tragedy they had endured. Faces worn down by displacement, small eyes holding a pain far beyond their years, young dreams trapped by the barbed wire of tents and the walls of schools.

When we asked them with heartbreaking innocence, "Where are you from?" the answer was shocking: "We are from the camp."

For these children, their true homeland is Afrin and Ras al-Ain, the cities they were deprived of as a result of forced displacement and ongoing violations. There, their childhood stories began, and there lie their roots, despite all attempts at erasure and demographic change. Children deprived of their schools, their toys, and their natural right to live in safety and stability.

The shelters, which are actually schools where they reside, were supposed to be places for learning and building a future, not temporary shelters.

Despite the harsh reality, their voices are united in one unwavering demand: "We want our homeland, nothing else." A simple demand, yet one that embodies all the meaning of right and justice.
