Change Movement stresses importance of Kurdish participation in peace process in Syria

The Change Movement in the Federal Region of Southern Kurdistan welcomed, through a statement issued by its official spokesman, Dalir Abdul Khaliq, the agreement reached between the Syrian Democratic Forces and Damascus.

The movement stressed that this agreement constitutes an important step towards achieving peace in Syria, and building a democratic future for all segments of the Syrian people.

Abdul Khaliq said that "the agreement between the Kurds and the Syrian government is not just a diplomatic step, but rather a milestone in the modern history of Syria." He added that the movement welcomes this progress and considers it "a new beginning for a bright future in Syria," noting that understanding between the two parties can have a positive impact on ending the ongoing conflict and achieving stability in the region.

Abdul Khaliq explained that "the success of this agreement depends primarily on the effective participation of the Kurds in all upcoming stages, stressing that the Kurds must have one voice in the political process and unite to face the political and economic challenges that Syria is going through."

He also pointed out "the importance of the Kurds having a prominent role in drafting the new Syrian constitution, which guarantees their political, cultural and social rights.
