Iranian authorities continue to repress Kurds in eastern Iran, imposing a two-year prison sentence and 30 lashes on a Kurdish artist and arresting another Kurdish citizen.

The Kurdistan Human Rights Organization announced the continuation of the campaign of repression and arrests carried out by Iranian authorities against Kurds in Eastern Kurdistan. Authorities arrested a citizen from Mahabad, while a court imposed a prison sentence and lashes on a Kurdish artist from Ilam Province.
The organization stated in a report that Kurdish citizen Wahab Khadiri Pouri, from the city of Mahabad, was summoned by the public prosecutor's office, then arrested and sent to the city's prison.
The organization also noted that Khodayari had previously been arrested by security forces without a judicial warrant on January 29, 2025, and was temporarily released on February 19, before being rearrested.
The organization reported that Kurdish artist Arman Shadvandi, from the town of Dareh Shar in Ilam Province, was sentenced to two years in prison and 30 lashes.
these measures are part of an ongoing campaign by Iranian authorities targeting Kurdish activists, artists, and citizens, amid widespread condemnation by regional and international human rights organizations.
