Britain intends to designate Iran's Revolutionary Guard “terrorist organization”

British Prime Minister Keir Starmer indicated that the British government intends to legislate a law banning Iran's Revolutionary Guard in the coming weeks.

British Prime Minister Keir Starmer announced that his government intends to designate Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) as a terrorist organization within a few weeks, confirming that formal procedures will begin with the start of the new parliamentary session immediately following the local elections.

During a visit to a synagogue that was recently attacked, Starmer explained that London is preparing special legislation that will grant authorities the necessary powers to impose this ban as soon as possible.

The Daily Telegraph reported that the legislation banning the IRGC will be included in King Charles III's upcoming speech in May.

This decision comes in response to increase political pressure exerted by the British opposition over the past few months.

If the decision is passed, Britain will join a long list of countries that consider the IRGC a terrorist organization, including the European Union, the United States, and Argentina.
