Blocking convoy of aid from NE, Syria heading to coast

On Thursday, the second convoy of humanitarian aid departed from the region of North and East Syria to the coastal areas, from the city of Qamishlo in al-Jazira region, carrying approximately 14,000 food and health baskets, and tons of flour.

The convoy arrived yesterday, Friday, at the crossing of the city of Tabqa, and then continued its journey this morning heading towards the coast.

A little while ago, the convoy turned back due to the Damascus authorities' forces preventing its passage to the coast.

This initiative falls within the ongoing humanitarian efforts of the people of the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria, the Kurdish Red Crescent, and the Democratic Autonomous Administration DAA, which aim to provide support to those affected in various regions of Syria. It also responds to the urgent needs to provide relief to civilians in the coastal region, who have suffered from violations and massacres during clashes between armed groups and the Damascus authority forces.

The first aid convoy set off to the coastal region on March 17th, with popular initiatives from the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria, and with the participation of the Kurdish Red Crescent and the Democratic Autonomous Administration.

The Syrian coast witnessed painful events and massacres between March 7 and 10, during which, according to documented statistics to date, 1,676 people lost their lives, and similar massacres continue to occur according to eyewitnesses.
