Iranian authorities have sentenced activists from Gilan province in northern Iran, Anahita Doostdar, Nina Golestani, Razita Rajaei, Anahita Hejazi and Nikin Adalatkhah, to over 20 years in prison.

All of them are cultural and environmental activists, and were arrested on November 11, 2023 by Iranian security forces on charges of “collusion and assembly” in the city of Rasht, Iran.

Rasht, the capital of Iran’s Gilan province, was the scene of widespread protests and severe repression during the “Women, Life, Freedom” protests following the killing of Jina Amini in 2022.
