Al-Asr Office submits new request to meet Leader Ocalan

Lawyers of the Al-Asr Office submitted a new request to the Turkish authorities to meet with Leader Abdullah Ocalan, at a time when no information has been received about him for nearly 3 years.

Today, the lawyers of the Al-Asr Office, Rezan Sarija, Radia Ozturk, Faiq Ozkur, Arul and Mazloum Deng, submitted a new request to the Public Prosecution Office in the Turkish city of Bursa and the Imrali Prison Directorate, in order to meet with their client, Leader Abdullah Ocalan.

The Turkish state authorities prevent the lawyer and family of leader Abdullah Ocalan from meeting with him.

Leader Abdullah Ocalan has been detained in Imrali prison since February 1999, and his contact with the outside world has been cut off since March 2021.

Despite the daily events and activities denouncing the isolation and demanding his freedom, and the media shedding light on the Turkish state’s violations of international human rights laws and norms, especially those related to political detainees, the authorities continue to prevent the relatives and lawyers of Leader Abdullah Ocalan from meeting with him.

The lawyers also submitted to the Public Prosecution Office and the Imrali Prison Directorate a request to visit the other prisoners in Imrali, namely, "Omer Khairy Konar, Hamili Yildirim, and Wesi Aktaş".
