Rights Organization reveals outcome of Turkish occupation's crimes against women

Members of the Human Rights Organization, Afrin - Syria, gathered to deliver a statement denouncing the crimes of the Turkish occupation state and its mercenaries against women in the occupied areas.

The statement was read by the member of the organization, Hehan Ali, in the main square of Sardam camp, in the presence of members and members of civil unions and institutions.

The text of the statement read:

"After the Turkish occupation state and its affiliated Syrian armed factions took control of the Afrin region, they committed various types of violations, including kidnapping, torture and violations.

However, the machine of killing and destruction brought by the Turkish occupation and the armed factions loyal to it has made women in the narrow corner of the occupation’s vision, which only sees women in the last row, the crimes against women in Afrin have not been witnessed in modern times except in the wars of the Mongols and the Tatars throughout history, these violations and crimes rise to the level of war crimes and crimes against humanity according to Articles (6-7-8) of the Law Primary Rome.

Although there is a special protection for women and children guaranteed by international law in many international covenants and covenants, including the Fourth Geneva Convention, the second paragraph of Article (27), which includes (women must be protected in particular against any assault on their honor, especially against rape, forced prostitution, and any violation of their sanctity ), as stipulated in Article /37/ of the Convention on the Rights of the Child (no child shall be subjected to torture or other forms of cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment or punishment), except that the Turkish occupation state did not observe these international conventions and covenants and committed the most heinous crimes against women and children .

The violations that we have been able to document since the beginning of the Turkish aggression on Afrin are as follows:

1- Kidnapping: More than 1,000 women have been kidnapped, the fate of many of them is unknown.

2- Murder: (99) women were killed, including (9) suicides that took place under mysterious circumstances.

3- Sexual violence and rape: (74) women.

In addition to the spread of the phenomenon of forced marriage and the marriage of minors under the influence of pressure and coercion.

We, human rights activists, appeal to all international human rights, humanitarian and feminist organizations to fulfill their moral and legal duty towards the crimes that are taking place against all civilians in the occupied territories of NE  Syria, especially those crimes that are committed against women and children, and to hold the perpetrators accountable and anyone who is proven linked to them, In addition to emphasizing the withdrawal of Turkish forces from Syrian territory and the safe return of the displaced."
