After 9 years of kidnapping, YJŞ- YBŞ return 2 young Yazidi women to Şengal

The Relations Office of the Syrian Democratic Forces handed over two Yazidi young women named Alia and Bassi to the Women's Units - Şengal and the Şengal Resistance Units, to return to Khansur district in Şengal province, 9 years after they were kidnapped by ISIS mercenaries and liberated from al-Hol camp.

The units handed over the two young women to their families in the branch of the Yazidi Women's Freedom Movement in Khansur.

A member of the Yazidi Women’s Freedom Movement, Naima Omar, spoke while handing over 2 Yazidi woman, saying" we are so delighted that our daughter are indeed alive and we are happy with their families. We see that 9 years have passed, but until now the whole world is silent towards the Yazidi community. Genocide has befallen us and we have gone through a difficult period, but everyone has turned a blind eye to us. So far, Iraq has not addressed the issue of the missing Yazidi women. Instead of giving us our right and seeking to reveal the fate of the Yazidis, Iraq is taking an indifferent and silent stance towards the Turkish state’s attacks on us.”

A member of the Yazidi Women’s Freedom Movement, Nafia Masho, in her turn, said that these young women are being liberated through hard work and struggle. “On the one hand, we are happy that our girls have returned to their homes, and on the other hand, we feel sad that there are still hundreds of Yazidi women who are not we know nothing about them yet.”

For his part, the uncle of the two young women, Alia and Bassi Khalil Khader, thanked the Syrian Democratic Forces, the Şengal Resistance Units and the Şengal Women’s Units for saving the two young women and said: “We see all the detained girls as our daughters. 9 years have passed, but until now, there are many people in the hands of ISIS mercenaries, also there are some people from our family. We want the other people to be found and brought back as soon as possible.”

It is worth noting that upon the arrival of the two young women to Şengal, the Kurdistan Democratic Party announced through the Office of Liberation of the Kidnapped from ISIS of Nechirvan Barzani that they were the ones who rescued these two young women.

But in fact, it was the Syrian Democratic Forces that liberated the two young women from al-Hol camp and handed them over to the Şengal Resistance Units and the Şengal Women's Units.
