ANHA’s agency monitored the crimes of the Turkish occupation, its mercenaries, and its intelligence against the people of Afrin and its nature, during the past May, including kidnapping, killing, torture, demographic change, building settlements to settle mercenary families, and cutting down olive and forest trees, based on the report of the Human Rights Organization Afrin-Syria concerned with documenting the crimes of the Turkish occupation and its mercenaries in occupied Afrin.

53 citizens, including 4 women, were kidnapped

According to the organization, during the month of May, the Turkish occupation and its mercenaries (military and civil police, Jabhat al-Shamiyya, and al-Amshat mercenaries) kidnapped 53 people, including 4 women, under false accusations and pretexts, in order to get a ransom amounting to thousands of dollars.

The Turkish occupation and its mercenaries take the abducted persons to unknown destinations, with the aim of intimidating their relatives and asking them for a financial ransom for their release.

A child was killed and 25 others were injured

After Erdogan won the elections, the mercenaries of the Turkish occupation killed a child from al-Mahmudiya camp and wounded more than 25 others, as a result of random and heavy gunfire.

Hundreds of trees were cut down in occupied Afrin

Since its occupation of Afrin canton on March 18, 2018, the Turkish occupation and its mercenaries have been working to destroy the nature of Afrin. Last May, the occupation and its mercenaries cut down more than 900 olive and forest trees in the center of Afrin, and the districts of Mobata and Raju. To be cut down and sold in the markets of Afrin, Azaz, Idlib, and even Jarabulus.

Building two settlements in Mount Lilon and the village of Shadira

Within the framework of stabilizing demographic change, the Turkish occupation - with the help of Kuwaiti, Qatari and Palestinian organizations - continues to build settlements in the villages and districts of the occupied Afrin canton.

In Shadira village of Sherawa district, the Turkish occupation built a new settlement that includes approximately 50 residential buildings, after which excavation machines leveled the surrounding lands, on an area of 30 hectares.

The International Organization for Relief, "Anser", with the support of Palestinian associations, has completed the construction of the "Al-Amal 2" settlement, on the slopes of Mount Lilon, southeast of Afrin canton.
