Union of Intellectuals in Jazera holds its fifth conference
The Intellectuals Union of Jazera region held its fifth conference, with the participation of 90 delegates, where the participants called for action to raise the cultural level in the region.
Under the slogan "the educated society is capable of preserving the gains", the Union of Intellectuals of Jazera region held its fifth conference, in the hall of Rojava University in the city of Qamishlo, with the participation of 90 delegates.
The conference was also attended by representatives of the Autonomous Administration and cultural institutions, the Council of Martyrs' Families, the Democratic Society Movement, political parties and civil institutions from various regions of NE Syria.
The conference began with a minute of silence, followed by the speech of the co-chair of Intellectuals Union, Anahita Senoo, who welcomed the attendees. And she stressed the need to exploit such a meeting in which intellectuals gather in order to fulfill the memory of the martyrs.
She added, "The occupying Turkish state occupies Afrin, Serêkaniyê, and Girê Spî. It continues its efforts to annihilate the peoples of the region.
The co-chair of the Democratic Society Movement, Gharib Hesso, delivered a speech during the conference, in which he praised the role of intellectuals during the years following the July 19 revolution.
Hesso added, "It is the responsibility of intellectuals to spread awareness among society. All civilizations were built depending on intellectuals. Culture is sacrifice in order to build moral values. If we adhere to this position, we will know the truth about culture."
The member of the Culture Body in Jazera region, Abdul Majeed Khalaf stressed the need for intellectuals to work in order to protect the gains and build the future for the new generations.
According to the preparatory committee, the report of the federation's activities during the past two years will be read, the the opinions and proposals of the participants will be discussed, and an action plan for the next two years will be developed. In addition to electing members of the administrative body.
