Mesopotamia mourns artist Ali Mansour Agirê, affirms continuing his path

The Mesopotamia Movement for Democratic Culture and Art issued a statement expressing deep sorrow over the passing of Kurdish artist Ali Mansour Agirê, who died on April 10, 2026, in Amuda city, after suffering from bronchitis, following a long journey of artistic and activist contributions.

The movement stated that the late artist was born in 1966 in Amuda and began his artistic career by joining the city’s Culture and Art Center in 1986. Agirê carried the message of disciplined art, using his voice and melodies to express his people's identity and causes.

The statement noted that Agirê wasn't just an artist but also a cultural activist who contributed to founding the “Agirê” musical band, which became a significant milestone in the path of resistance art. Through it, Agirê presented works that embodied the spirit of the Kurdish people and the values of freedom and dignity.

The movement emphasized that his passing is not only an artistic loss but also the loss of a free voice that expressed the hopes and pain of his people, remaining loyal to the values of struggle until his final moments.

The statement concluded by offering condolences to the family of the late artist and his comrades, affirming their commitment to continuing his path and carrying the message of free, resistant art in loyalty to his artistic and activist legacy.
