NEWS DESK, AHMED SAMIR

At dawn, at sunrise on April 25, 2017, 26 warplanes belonging to the Turkish occupation attacked Mount Qereçox in the Derik region, violating the Syrian airspace, and the bombing focused on the command center of the People's Protection Units YPG and the media center, in the largest offensive operation. To help ISIS mercenaries trapped in Tabqa.

The attack resulted in the death of 20 fighters from the People's and Women's Protection Units YPG YPJ, including media workers, and 18 other fighters were wounded.

Simultaneously, the warplanes violated the Iraqi airspace and bombed separate civilian areas of the Şengal Mountains, killing 6 citizens and injuring 10 others, causing massive damage to the infrastructure and huge material losses.

What were the Syrian Democratic Forces preoccupied with?

The Syrian Democratic Forces had announced the battle to liberate the city of Tabqa from ISIS mercenaries on March 21, 2017, as the SDF managed to liberate the Tabqa military airport, before completely encircling the city on April 7. The city was liberated on May 10 of the same year.

The battle to liberate al-Tabqa was part of the third phase of Operation Euphrates Wrath, with the support of the International Coalition, in preparation for the expulsion of mercenaries from the city of Raqqa, their most prominent stronghold in Syria.

When the city of Tabqa was on the verge of liberation, Turkey got the green light from the United States of America and carried out a violent attack on Mount Qereçox.

Russian complicity and an American green light

A flying bird cannot pass through the sky of Rojava, without the knowledge of the US-led international coalition, with the Syrian Democratic Forces engaged in its war against ISIS mercenaries in Tabqa and the countryside of Raqqa.

For the first time ever, America, with Russian complicity, gave Turkey the green light to attack Rojava and bomb Mount Qereçox. This attack opened the doors for Turkey to occupy the areas of Rojava and northern Syria (Afrin, Serêkaniyê/Ras al-Ayn, Girê Spî/Tal Abyad), as the weak international position created the atmosphere for Turkey to expand further.

The attack came to save ISIS and relieve pressure on it

The massive Turkish attack came to save ISIS and relieve the pressure on it after it became in a deplorable state, besieged and weak after the Syrian Democratic Forces put the noose on it in the Syrian city of Tabqa, and preoccupied the fighters in opening new sites of engagement and confrontations.

Rustam Zaidan (Muhammad Khalil) was martyred in the attack of the Turkish occupation army, the leader responsible for the military battles waged by the Syrian Democratic Forces against ISIS mercenaries in Raqqa.

As a result, the Syrian Democratic Forces stopped their military operations within the third phase to liberate al-Tabqa and al-Raqqa temporarily, until the position of the International Coalition on the treacherous Turkish attack is known.

The American response to the Turkish attack was weak, as an American military commander accompanied by the Commander-in-Chief of the Syrian Democratic Forces made a field visit to the site of the event a few moments after the site was targeted, and it did not rise to the required level, and this confirms that Turkey has a green light from the International Coalition to launch this attack. The broad attack.

YPG: The Turkish attack will not discourage our will in the fight against terrorism

The attack sparked great discontent and questioning among the people of the region, who were angry at the position of the International Coalition that controls the airspace, and prepared it for the Turkish occupation army's warplanes to carry out this attack, at a time when the people of the region are fighting ISIS mercenaries.

In a brief statement, the General Command of the People's Protection Units, at the time, published a statement saying that "the Turkish attack will not discourage our will in the fight against terrorism."

In addition, the Syrian Democratic Council condemned the Turkish aerial bombardment and explained: "The Turkish attack aims to thwart the military campaign against ISIS in Raqqa."

The resistance in north-eastern Syria repulsed a terrorist organization that worried the entire world

Muhammad pointed out that the data available at the time, which confirmed that North and East Syria is showing great resistance in confronting ISIS mercenaries, worried the whole world, and he said: "The attacks did not break the will of the people gathered around their fighters from the People's and Women's Protection Units and the Syrian Democratic Forces, the attacks exalted the status of Resistance".

The failure of the international forces to show a strong reaction to the Qereçox attack, which is the first stop of the Turkish attacks, and leaving the Turkish occupation state without accountability, encouraged it to persist and attack Afrin on January 20, 2018.

The international powers, led by the coalition, did not present a clear position

Regarding the changes and variables that took place after that attack, Muhammad said: "Turkey expanded its occupation scheme in northern Syria and Rojava, especially after the international forces, led by the coalition, did not show a clear position, which allowed Turkey to continue its attacks to this day."

The weak international position encouraged Turkey to persist

Turkey did not like the expansion of the Syrian Democratic Forces at the expense of ISIS and its liberation of large areas of north-eastern Syria, so it began various attacks, using this time, drones, to target the founders, activists, and leaders of the Autonomous Administration and the Syrian Democratic Forces who defeated ISIS mercenaries in their areas.

Targeting commanders who defeated ISIS

The occupying Turkish state completed what ISIS could not do, and took revenge for it, as a march belonging to it attacked a car on the Qamishlo road on July 22, which resulted in the martyrdom of one of the most prominent leaders of the YPJ, Giyan Tolhildan, and the general commander of the YAT forces, Roj Khabur. These two leaders had a great role and imprint in defeating ISIS mercenaries, and protecting the people of the region from their oppression.

Targeting the leaders of the Autonomous Administration

With the international community becoming more indecisive, the Turkish air attacks of the Turkish occupation state expanded, moving from north-eastern Syria to Southern Kurdistan, and this time targeting one of the pillars of the July 19, 2012 revolution, Farhad Shibli, who engaged in organizational, political and social activity in several areas within the Jazira region, and was assigned to Deputy of the co-chair of the Executive Council of the Democratic Autonomous Administration, martyred on June 17, 2022, in the Kalar neighborhood of Sulaymaniyah.

An attempt to assassinate the Commander-in-Chief of the Syrian Democratic Forces

On April 7, the Commander-in-Chief of the Syrian Democratic Forces, Mazloum Abdi, survived an assassination attempt, accompanied by American officers, as a Turkish occupation drone targeted Sulaymaniyah airport in Başûr, but the convoy was not harmed.

If there was an international position, Turkey would not have dared to target those who defeated ISIS

Talal Muhammad stressed that if there had been a strong and firm international position, Turkey would not have dared to target the leaders of the Syrian Democratic Forces, which defeated ISIS, with drones.

Turkey increased its support and support for ISIS after its defeat in al-Baghouz

Muhammad noted that Turkey escalated its support for ISIS after its defeat in al-Baghouz, and the plan of the attack on al-Sina'a prison in al-Hasakah and its attempts to smuggle the leadership of ISIS in the first row and the reactivation and revival of sleeper cells is only confirmation of that.

Instead of honoring them for saving the world from the oppression of ISIS mercenaries, the beautiful world responds by opening the airspace in front of Turkish warplanes to target the leaders of the Women's Protection Units and the Syrian Democratic Forces who struggled, fought and struggled to end the threat of ISIS.

In remembrance and loyalty to the blood of (12) thousand martyrs and the same number of wounded, the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria declared April 25 of each year as Martyrs' Day.
