​​​​​​​Thousands on their way to Newroz celebration in Amed

Newroz 2023 is celebrated in a number of cities in Bakur (Northern Kurdistan) and Turkey, under the slogan "Newroz everywhere, freedom at all times."

This year's Newroz was dedicated to the victims of the earthquake that struck Maraşlı on February 6. Crowds of people headed to Newroz Park, located in Razan district, since the dawn hours.

What is remarkable in the celebration is the large participation of women and youth. While crowds of people in the square were stopped for a long time at checkpoints.

Residents enter the park from five axes, and there are two police checkpoints in Bloara Qamishlo, and four other checkpoints in Newroz Street and the Baggalari neighborhood. Crowds of residents flocked to the square at 09:30 through the protocol gate.

The Newroz theater was decorated with black in mourning for the earthquake victims, and a condolence message was hung in the square, which read: "Condolences to our people."

There were also posters of Gina Amini that read: "We will escalate women's struggle with Gina Amini's lock of hair" and posters of Kemal Korkut that read: "Kemal Korkut is immortal."

Many banners were raised in Newroz Square. While women and youth participate in the celebration in national dress.The women and youth entered the square while raising the flags of the Amed Sport football team, and flags in the colors "green, red and yellow", while they chanted the slogans "Long live Leader Apo", "There is no life without the leader" and "Jin, Jiyan, Azadî (Women, Life, Freedom).
